Gyms Get Heat For Being Too Funky

From handmaids in showy black spandex to emboldened room-y bikinis, the push for fuller, more overtly sexy clothes in the gyms has been ratcheting up.

The owner of a fitness center in northern Florida has been fined for letting patrons fully undress in the presence of younger children. The Broward County judge fined the center $15,000 for a violation of the sex-offender registry.

The judge said the owner had violated Florida law by allowing an “underage patron” in the adult-education room with a “pediatric or youth group” when the children were between the ages of 6 and 9 years old.

Mark Purvis, a lawyer for the owner, is appealing the ruling, saying the state does not have jurisdiction over activity done by businesses that accept private or internal memberships.

The ruling is just one of many targeting sex-related businesses in recent years. Pregnancy Centers have been shut down. A coffee shop in a New York college town was fined $20,000 for misleading its customers about the anatomical content of its coffee drinks. And strip clubs with risqué names and bathrooms with exposed and squirting bathrooms were fined for building code violations after The Post reported on a callous attitude by their guards.
