Written by David Ever wonder what happens to all the dog poop left on sidewalks? Now you can find out thanks to a new initiative by the City of Toronto that’s expanding the number of receptacles being placed around the city. Starting Monday, 775 of the newly designed cans with green tips and photo ID on them, each containing a waste can, will be put around the City of Toronto for this first time. The new bins, which were tested on the Lower Don Lands this summer, aim to help people properly dispose of their poop by using technology that makes it easier to tell where the can was taken — and how to properly dispose of it. Special markings on the can help guide people to where they can go for services, such as the waste department or a community center. The City of Toronto For a limited time, the City of Toronto has donated the new can services (which also include complimentary cleaning) to 2,000 people who help keep Toronto parks clean through work at the city’s parks’ Parks and Recreation Departments, like cleaning, vacuuming, garbage picking and landscaping.
